4. Measurement of Video Camera Delay

The PIC processor facilitated testing and measurement of video camera delay by using it to switch the constant current fed to the LED light source ON and OFF under the control of the Windows video capture program. The LED current is switched ON immediately the film frame comes to rest in the film gate; followed by a time delay D while the camera tries to capture the image, followed by an instruction to the PIC to switch the LED current OFF and start motor pulse generation to advance the film to the next frame. The delay D was incremented by 1mS for each frame captured so when the sequence of frames are consistently evenly exposed the frame number of the first frame of the sequence is equal to the maximum delay.
